الحاكم الروماني "جاليكولا" أشهر الطغاة الرومان وأغربهم:

حيث وصل جنونه بالملك إلى أنه طلب من أعوانه أن يحظروا له القمر، وبكى لعدم الحصول عليه، وعين حصانه بمجلس الشيوخ، كما صنع مجاعة بنفسه حتى يتذكره التاريخ.
كان أكثر من مجرد طاغية، كان نموذجا للشر وجنون العظمة، وتقمص دور الإله في الأرض.
وذات يوم تظاهر بأنه سيموت، فبادر أتباعه بالدعاء له بالشفاء، بل منهم من بالغ في التهور أن يأخذ الإله روحه بدلا من جاليكولا، وأخر وعد أن يعطي مائة قطة ذهبية إن شفي، وفجأة خرج عليهم جاليكولا يبشرهم أنه لم يمت، وأن على كل من قطع وعدا ان يفي به، فقتل الشخص الأول، وأخد مائة قطعة ذهبية من الثاني.
وما زاد من جنونه وبطشه أن الشعب كان خائفا منه، وكذلك كان رجاله، رغم أنه كان بامكانهم أن يجتمعوا ويقضوا عليه. إلا أنهم استسلموا للخوف.
وذات يوم جاءت اللحظة التي ستودي بحياته، حيث دخل إلى مجلس الشيوخ ممتطيا صهوة جواده، ولما أبدى أحد الأعضاء اعتراضه، أجابه جاليكولا: "لا أدري لما يبدي العضو المحترم اعتراضه على دخول جوادي المحترم على الرغم من أنه أكثر أهمية من العضو، فيكفي أنه يحملي"، وطبعا كعادة الحاشية هتفوا له وأيدوا قوله.
وأصدر قرارا بنعيين جواده عضوا بمجلس الشيوخ، وطبعا هلل الأعضاء لحكمة جاليكولا، وانطلق جاليكولا في عبثه حتى النهاية، فأقام احتفالا بتعيين جواده، وكان لزاما على الاعضاء أن يحضروا بملابسهم الرسمية للاحتفال، ويوم الحفل تفاجئ الحاضرون أن المأدبة لم يكن بها سوى التبن والشعير ! فلما اندهشوا قال جاليكولا: إنه شرف عظيم أن يأكلوا من صحائف ذهبية ما يأكله حصانه، وهكذا أذعن الجميع لرغبة الطاغية وأكلوا التبن والشعير ! إلا واحدا كان يدعى "براكوس" رفض ذلك، فغضب جاليكولا وقال له: من أنت لترفض أن تأكل ما يأكله جوادي؟ وأصدر قرارا بتنحيه من منصبه، وتعيين حصانه بذلا منه. وبالطبع هلل الحاضرون بفم ملئ بالقش والتبن وأعلنوا تأييدهم لذلك المجنون.
إلا أن "براكوس" ثار وصرخ في وجه "جاليكولا" والأعضاء معلنا الثأر لشرفه، وصاح في أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ: إلى متى يا أشراف روما نضل خاضعين لجبروت "جاليكولا"؟ وقدف حدائه في وجه الحصان، وصرخ يا أشراف روما افعلوا مثلي، استردوا شرفكم المهان، فاستحالت المعركة بالأطباق وبكل شيء وصلت إليه أيديهم، وتجمع الاعضاء وأعوان جاليكولا عليه حتى قتلوه، وقتلوا حصانه أيضا، ولما وصل الخبر إلى الشعب، خرج مسرعا وحطم تماثيل "جاليكولا" وأيضا تماثيل أفراد عائلته.
